President Benigno Aquino presented the ‘Outstanding Exemplar in the Private Sector’ award to Tessie Sy-Coson for SM Foundation’s programs in education, health and wellness, and livelihood during the annual media Bulong-Pulungan Christmas party event at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila last December 11. The ‘Outstanding Exemplar’ award is given yearly to people from both the government and private sector who have made great contributions in nation-building.
This is the first time SM and its Foundation were cited by the group. Established in 1983, SM Foundation has served as the social development arm of the SM group of companies. Using its vast reach and presence in communities, SM commits itself in creating a cycle of positive change and help uplift lives through providing opportunities.
Bulong-Pulungan was organized by a group of women journalists in 1986 with the goal of gathering members of media to discuss various national issues. This year marks Bulong-Pulungan’s 29th anniversary.
