More than 100 farmers including Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries will join a 3-month farmers training in Cauayan, Isabela under the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Sustainable Agriculture Program of the SM Foundation. Launched last July 7, the KSK farmers training will be conducted every Friday starting July 17, 2015.
SM Prime Holdings, BDO Foundation and SM Foundation teamed up to reconstruct the Lantangan Elementary School in Barangay in Pontevedra, Capiz.
The 2-storey, 4-classroom building was turned over on December 15, 2014 and comes with four toilets, 200 student armchairs, 16 wall fans, eight blackboards and four teachers’ desk sets. In addition to these, SM Foundation will also be handling the building’s maintenance and upkeep.
After a year of holding classes in two Department of Public Works and Highways bunkhouses or under the shades of trees, 846 students of Pedro E. Candido National Memorial High School have moved to two newly constructed school buildings in a site built by SM Foundation with funds from partners Forever 21, Global Hope Inc. & TTokamsa Mission Church. The new buildings stand on a one hectare lot donated by Angelique Claire Candido, granddaughter of Pedro Candido the original owner of the property and former Mayor of Hernani, E. Samar.
Tacloban City: Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) is now a partner university of SM Foundation when a memorandum of agreement is signed to forge this partnership. SM scholars from Samar and Leyte don’t need to travel far to enroll for Engineering, IT and Education courses.
SM Foundation started conducting its farmers’ training program in six areas for the second half of 2015. The program targets to train over 700 additional farmers in sustainable backyard farming by the end of the year for a total of over 2,000 farmer-graduates for 2015.
After SM Foundation conducted its sustainable agriculture program Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) farmers’ training in the Yolanda-stricken (international name: Haiyan) area of Iloilo in 2014, a total of 230 farmer-graduates re-entered society with renewed hope.
SM Foundation Medical Missions. Residents of Sta. Rosa, Laguna (left) and Bacoor, Cavite (right) check their names in the list of beneficiaries of the medical and dental mission conducted by SM Foundation in their respective locality recently. The medical missions that are regularly conducted by the Foundation bring doctors, dentists and other medical personnel closer to the patients. Aside from free consultation and basic laboratory services, the beneficiaries also received vitamins and complete dosage of prescription medicines.

At the 50th Anvil Awards Gold Gabi ng Parangal of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) recently, SM Foundation received two Silver Anvil Awards for its public relations (PR) programs in a sustained basis in literacy (SM Foundation College Scholarship Program) as well as in health and wellness (SM Foundation’s Medical Mission and Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Program).
Continuing its commitment of bringing accessible health services to more communities, SM Foundation welcomed its fourth mobile clinic during its recent medical mission at the Earnshaw Health Center in Manila on May 27.
