SM Foundation turns over 75th school building to 2nd largest public elementary school in Baguio

SM Foundation turned over its 75th school building to Lucban Elementary School in Baguio City on July 5. The two-storey, four-classroom school building is fully furnished with 4 toilets, 200 armchairs, 4 sets of teacher’s tables and chairs, 8 blackboards, 16 electric wall fans and 4 wall clocks.

Lucban Elementary School is one of the nine central schools of Baguio City. At present, it is the second biggest public elementary school in the City of Pines in terms of teachers and pupil population. The school also offers special science classes from Grades I – III.

SM Foundation’s support to programs geared to improve the quality of education in public schools was recently recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd). SM continues rehabilitation efforts in Yolanda-stricken areas

SM Foundation turned over a two-storey, four-classroom school building to the Northern Tacloban City National High School (NTCNHS) on April 24 in partnership with Deutsche Bank. This came just days after SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation, turned over 400 disaster-resilient houses to Typhoon Yolanda victims in the same area.

Investing in Education, Investing in the Future

SM Foundation ended 2015 on a high note as it welcomed another first for its college scholarship program—four of its most recent scholar-graduates topped the 2015 national licensure examinations for engineering. These students are part of SM Foundation’s most recent batch of scholar-graduates. Of the total of 264 graduates for school year 2014-2015, 62 of finished with latin honors and academic distinctions.
