SM Foundation and partners Forever 21, Global Hope Inc. and TTokamsa Mission Church recently turned over two 2-storey, 20-classroom school buildings to Pedro E. Candido Memorial High School in Hernani, Eastern Samar.
SM Development Corporation (SMDC) employees took a meaningful break from work as they supported SM Foundation’s blood drive.
More than 70 employees of SMDC signed up last September 14 for the activity done in partnership with the Department of Health’s Philippine Blood Center (DOH-PBC). By the end of the day, a total of 18,000 mL was collected and immediately stored in the SM employee blood bank.
One hundred and twenty (120) SM scholars from Leyte and Samar enjoyed a lunch treat at the Shylaer’s Sizzling Steak Restaurant in Savemore Tacloban City with SM Foundation representatives last month.
Out of the 120, one hundred scholars were the recipients of additional scholarships under SM Foundation’s Yolanda Rehabilitation Program in 2014.
SM Supermalls made September special for lolo and lola by celebrating Grandparents day.
Last September 12, employee volunteers from SM Supermalls, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc., SM Family Entertainment, Inc. and SM Engineering Design Development Corp. visited various senior citizen centers around their local communities. Dubbed “Show More Care for the Elderly”, the seniors were treated to a day of fun activities such as games, exercises and dancing as well as informative healthcare sessions for common health concerns.
SM Foundation turned over its 63rd school building, a newly-built and fully furnished two-storey, four-classroom school building, to Ibajay National High School in Kalibo, Aklan on December 16, 2014. The building included 200 student armchairs, 16 wall fans, eight blackboards, four teachers’ desk sets and four toilets.
SM Foundation launched its 86th Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmers Training in Sitio Sagpat, Brgy. Poblacion West, Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac on February 3, 2015. Participants included marginalized farmers and Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from nearby municipalities and barangays.
Felicidad T. Sy Foundation, Inc. (FTSyFI), SM Foundation‘s division for its religious affairs, held its third Lectors’ and Commentators’ (Lecoms) Formation for SM employees last February 23 at Arzobispado de Manila, Manila. The formation program was conducted by Rev. Fr. Genaro O. Diwa, SLL, Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy (CBCP) of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission (ALC) Manila.
Scholars from different areas of Luzon including Batangas, Bulacan, Cabanatuan, Cavite, Laguna, Lucena, Metro Manila, Olongapo, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Quezon, Rizal, Tarlac, Zambales and NCR gathered at the Mall of Asia grounds on June 28, 2015 to usher in a new school year.

Over a year into the recovery of the Visayas region after Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan), 141 farmers from the calamity-stricken area of Balangiga, Eastern Samar finished their 12-week training under SM Foundation’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmers’ Training Program.
Investing in the Future. On May 27, SM Foundation celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of its 264 scholars-graduates for school year 2014-2015 through a testimonial dinner at the SMX Convention Center. Of these scholars, 62 graduated with Latin honors—2 summa cum laude, 21 magna cum laude, 29 cum laude and 10 with academic distinction.
