SM Foundation held its first quarter medical and diagnostic mission for employees and their dependents in SM City Cebu Trade Hall on March 6 with the help of volunteer doctors from the local government of Cebu, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City Medical Center, Bureau of Fire Protection of Cebu, BGen Benito Ebuen Station Hospital, Torrens Pharma and other private medical associations.
Services offered were medical check-ups, dental procedures, minor surgeries, pneumonia vaccines for seniors, anti-measles vaccines for children, blood tests and pharmacy. X-ray and ECG were also conducted at the SM Foundation Mobile Clinic. Almost 2,500 individuals availed of the services offered.
Some employees who were on duty brought their children, parents & immediate relatives for the free check-up and medicines. Mall tenants also availed of the services offered, including the prescribed medicines.
Connie Angeles, Executive Director for Health and Wellness programs of SM Foundation said the Cebu mission is a launch pad for more missions in the Visayas and Mindanao, with more slated for Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon this year.
The quarterly medical-dental mission for employees and their dependents is SM’s way of showing compassion and gratitude to its own workforce who the company considers family. The Foundation also holds regular monthly missions in communities surrounding their malls.
