At the 50th Anvil Awards Gold Gabi ng Parangal of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) recently, SM Foundation received two Silver Anvil Awards for its public relations (PR) programs in a sustained basis in literacy (SM Foundation College Scholarship Program) as well as in health and wellness (SM Foundation’s Medical Mission and Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Program).
Continuing its commitment of bringing accessible health services to more communities, SM Foundation welcomed its fourth mobile clinic during its recent medical mission at the Earnshaw Health Center in Manila on May 27.
For the victims of Typhoon Yolanda in Leyte and Samar, rebuilding their lives has not been easy. But they find comfort in the various non-government organizations and private institutions that are committed to help them move forward and overcome the trauma caused by the destruction of Yolanda. Rebuilding the lives of the victims involves not only providing them the needed infrastructure, housing, and source of livelihood but also ensuring their health and well-being.
Residents of Indang, Cavite can now easily avail of health services at the newly renovated Indang Main Health Center.

Residents of Barangay Katilingban and its neighboring communities can now avail of medical services and wellness consultations in the newly-renovated Molo District Health Center in Iloilo.
The La Trinidad Main Health Center in Benguet, which caters to 16 barangays, has been renovated and accredited with PhilHealth for its out-patient benefit package (OPB). This means that the 21,425 households comprising these barangays can now avail of treatment in the Health Center. Thanks to SM Foundation and BDO Foundation who undertook the complete renovation, quality health service is brought to these communities.
SM Foundation chalks up another addition to its long list of military facilities renovated with the recent turnover of the Operating and Delivery Room (OR/DR) complex along with the officers and cadets ward of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA)’s Fort Del Pilar Station Hospital in Baguio. This is SM Foundation’s 13th military facility renovated to date.
SM Foundation, represented by Executive Director Debbie P. Sy and Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs Connie Angeles, turned over a renovated and refurbished 60-bed Basa Airbase Hospital to the Commanding Officer of the Hospital, Colonel Augustus de Villa. A memorandum of agreement was signed by the partners witnessed by Brigadier General Enrique C. Reyes, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Wing Commander and Brigadier General Joselito P. Avancena, AFP Surgeon General.
President Benigno Aquino presented the ‘Outstanding Exemplar in the Private Sector’ award to Tessie Sy-Coson for SM Foundation’s programs in education, health and wellness, and livelihood during the annual media Bulong-Pulungan Christmas party event at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila last December 11. The ‘Outstanding Exemplar’ award is given yearly to people from both the government and private sector who have made great contributions in nation-building.
