SM Foundation recently signed the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF)’s manifesto of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the conclusion of the LCF Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo.
During the event, LCF officers led the signing of the manifesto for a group-wide call to action to align its programs to the United Nation’s 17 SDGs as well as committing to engage the government, the academe and other stakeholders to unify under the initiative. Highlighted in the manifesto is the group’s commitment to further strengthen its five committees which include enterprise development, environment, arts and culture, health and education.
“With LCF taking this direction, it further solidifies our own commitment to the SDGs,” Linda Atayde, SM Foundation’s Executive Director for Education and LCF Trustee said. “Our programs are aligned to UN’s SDGs and we believe that unifying all of the efforts of the private sector, especially the corporate foundations, will surely magnify the impact.”
SM Foundation has been supporting the initiatives of LCF since the 1990s. With over 70 operating and grant-making corporate foundations, LCF is geared towards promoting and enhancing its members’ strategic practices and understanding of corporate social responsibility as well as helping create solutions to uplift the Filipino people.
