Dr. Alfonso T. Lagaya believes that all professionals should “pay-it-forward”. Being blessed with knowledge and skills in his field of study, Dr. Lagaya shares his God-given blessings by offering his services to others.

“The enthusiasm that I have seen from Mr. Henry Sy, his family, and his SM Foundation staff, particularly Ms. Connie Angeles and Dr. Rorie Siasoco, has inspired me to join the medical missions that they regularly organize,” declared Dr. Lagaya.

As one of the leading doctors in medical acupuncture and wellness, Dr. Lagaya believes that there should be a strategic approach in meeting the healthcare needs of the middle and lower socio-economic sectors of the Philippines. Apart from providing free treatments and medicines, he believes that it is important to provide orientations on proper health habits to prevent illnesses as well provide basic safe and effective home remedies that can save one’s family in emergency cases. He saw this to be true in all the SM Foundation Medical Missions. Patients are not only provided medicines but also oriented in proper hygiene and proper health care. There are also adequate equipment to do laboratory work, x-ray, ECG diagnosis, dental surgery and, at times, even medical acupuncture. Among all these available services, it is acupuncture that is closest to Dr. Lagaya’s heart as it is very much in line with his vision in creating an Integrative Medical Acupuncture Clinic.

“I find the staff of SM Foundation very effectively beautiful with a heart!” said Dr. Lagaya. “SM Foundation becomes the hub of a wheel in generating good karma that will return a hundred-fold to all those volunteers for their own good health, their family and success in their profession.”
